Choose Love is a UK-based non-governmental organisation, which provides humanitarian aid to & advocacy for, refugees around the world. Everything from lifesaving search & rescue boats, to food & legal advice.
Choose Love also have a 'Choose Love shop', which is the world’s first to sell real products for refugees & displaced communities. Meaning, you can shop online FOR refugees. When you buy an item at Choose Love, they get it to where it’s needed most.
They also have their own merchandise which you can purchase for yourself & 100% of the profits go to refugees & displaced people in 15 countries around the world.
On Tuesday 20th October 2020, 20 Nigerian security forces (more specifically a unit of the Nigerian forces known as FSARS - Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad) reportedly opened fire on hundreds of peaceful demonstrators in Lagos, which also happened to be the 12th night of protests against police brutality.
Nigeria have protested FSARS, due to their use of excessive force, extortion of money, physical assault, wrongly profiling people as criminals, sexual assault on women & wrongful imprisonment of innocent people.
In July 2020 a group of young Nigerian feminists formed 'The Feminist Coalition' with a core focus on education, financial freedom and representation in public office.
"We are fighting injustice through peaceful protests, fundraising, and social media organisation. We have a vision for a Nigeria where equality for all people is a reality in our laws and everyday lives".
