Gender equality is very straight forward. Equality to all, regardless if you are a man or a woman. You are equal to one another. A pretty understandable concept right? And yet here we are, in 2020, still experiencing an imbalance between the sexes.

I owe so much to the women of the past & present, for the life I live today. Women of the past, who have fought for my right to vote, my right to an education, my right to a life. Women of the present, paving the way to ensure opportunities are still presented to myself & other women, in the future.

There are still many women in the world who do not have ONE of those things. They are not heard, seen, or respected as a human being - let alone an equal. They still need help, fighting for those rights. They need OUR help in amplifying their voices. Being a feminist means you stand for equality. Being a feminist does not mean you are against men. You do not have to be ANTI-MAN, to be PRO-WOMAN. You can support both & help install a balance between the two. Socially, economically & morally.

I don't want there to be a world, where a girl is criticised & labelled as 'bossy', instead of praised for showing leadership. I don't want a girl to be told she cannot earn a living, because the career she has chosen is 'a mans job'. I don't want a young girl to be trapped in a life she has not chosen, because she has never been given the right to speak up & say no.

 

Women have every right, to live a life of their own & should not have to be forced to remind the world of that constantly.
